Sotheby's To Sell Big Blue Diamond


Although general precious gem charges are down, the sales for the large-scale and uncommon pebbles are still attractive strong. Petra Diamonds, a miner of pebbles in Africa, is wanting for a high number for their first sale of a slash and shone pebble through Sotheby's. They will be trading a 7.03-carat azure diamond from the Cullinan mine in South Africa. The Cullinan mine has yielded most of the best azure precious gems in the world. The pebble has a adorned vivid azure hue and is ranked internally flawless. Petra determined to deal the pebble as slash and shone versus trading the uneven as they generally do because they are wanting to get greatest exposure for the gem.

The pebble will be shown in Hong Kong, Paris, New York and London before termination in Geneva for the Sotheby's auction on May 12. It is approximated to deal for as much as $8.5 million. Maybe the pebble will apply to well renowned precious gem trader Laurence Graff. Last December he selected up the Wittelsbach diamond, a grayish-blue 35.56 carat pebble with an outstanding chronicled provenance, for $24.3 million making it the world's most costly azure diamond.
